Using Potatoes to make relief prints for the wallpaper was originally very exciting, but quickly turned into more than i bargained for. While i highly enjoyed the results, the entire printing process was EXTREMELY time consuming. (Amusingly enough, at the end of printing the wallpaper, i was left with some pretty big bruises on my palms. Not fun!)

I also learned that while potatoes leave an excellent mark, they are not a long lasting form of stamp. After making a few hundred prints, the stamp slowly began to degrade and change. (After completing two of the wall panels [depicted in the bottom two images] I still had 70+ Ft. to go.) While i originally started out with just one stamp, by the end of the printing process i was using variety of 4 different hand-cut potato stamps.

After measuring the space, i decided to make Relief prints using Potatoes to begin the printing process for the project.

ASSIGNMENT 1: HOME

To begin, identify a site with which you would like to work and measure and record its dimensions. Create a scale drawing that clearly shows what you plan to do on the site.

In order to sense, across the years, our attachment for the house we were born in, dream is more powerful than thought. It is our unconscious force that crystalizes our remotest memories.
